Download and install Audacity 2.0, then the liblame plugin to be able to convert raw audio data to MP3 files. To record a sample on Microsoft Windows 7, please either use the stereo mix option, if your driver supports it. See this article for information on how to activate the stereo mix. Once successfully done, start Audacity and select Stereo Mix as input source, prepare your browser your for playback and set Audacity options (you only need to do this once): * go to Edit * go to Preferences * select Quality on the left side * set Default Sample Rate to 48000 Hz If you can't enable Stereo Mix, i.e., your audio driver is not supporting it, follow the following instructions: * get and install virtual audio device * prepare your browser for playback * go to start * go to all programs * go to virtual audio capturer * open Record using it for x seconds * input the number of seconds to record (400 for the Flash version, 180 for the HTML5 version) * input the file name to record to (make sure to name it something.**wav**) Whatever method you decided to use (Audacity or virtual audio device), enable recording NOW by clicking the record button in Audacity, or click the "Open" button in the file selection prompt of virtual audio device. In the latter case, please wait for cmd.exe to indicate that ffmpeg has started and is recording. Then * start playback in your browser * wait for the playback to finish In case you're using virtual audio device, carry out these additional steps (ignore for Audacity): * WAIT for a file explorer window to pop up * open something.wav with Audacity Once you've got the sample, follow these steps: * delete the silence before and after the recording (select, press the delete key) * go to File * go to Export * select "MP3 files" in field "Save as type" * input file name (something.mp3) * click "Options..." * select Bit Rate Mode "Constant" * select Quality 160kbps * select Channel Mode "stereo" * click Ok * click Save * upload the sample ====== Test systems ====== ^ ID ^ Domain/Name ^ OS ^ CPU ^ RAM ^ x2goserver ^ application ^ VM ^ | LTestSys1 | GloveBox | Debian Stable 6.0.5 | 1.6Ghz 1-core | 1.2GB | stable 3.1.1.0-0 | Iceweasel 3.5(.16-16) | y | | LTestSys2 | home.ionic.de | Debian Testing | 2.83Ghz 4-core (non-HT) | 2GB | heuler 3.1.1.1-0 | Iceweasel 13.0(.1-1) | y | | RTestSys1 | ionic.de | Debian Unstable | 2.8Ghz 4-core (HT) | 24GB | heuler 3.1.1.1-0 | Iceweasel 13.0(.1-1) | n | ====== Test videos ====== ^ Name ^ URL ^ | Flash Video 1 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT8gcZh_42w | | HTML5 Video 1 | http://double.co.nz/video_test/test4.html (hires) | ====== x2go settings ====== slider: ADSL
